Description

Mentor coaching for the ICF Master Certified Coach credential

The step from PCC to MCC is not about adding more techniques. Assessors listen for something quieter: a coach who follows the client’s thinking rather than their own agenda, who works with the whole person as well as the topic, and who trusts the client to do the discovering. This package is built for experienced coaches who are ready to make that shift and want a mentor who has walked the same path.

Your mentor is Daniela Aneva, ICF Master Certified Coach, mentor coach at Rice University’s Doerr Institute for New Leaders, and co-author of Your Journey to MCC: A Simple, Deep and Practical Guide, a case-based guide to the ICF MCC competencies, Minimum Skills Requirements and behavioural markers, publishing in October 2026. The thinking in that book shapes this package: the same markers, the same close listening to real sessions, and the same focus on the shift from PCC excellence to masterful coaching. Daniela is also co-author of Becoming a Coaching Supervisor and Coach Mentor.

Mentor coaching, blended with coaching supervision

What makes this package different is that Daniela, an EMCC ESIA-accredited coaching supervisor, blends mentor coaching with coaching supervision. Mentor coaching looks at your recordings against the ICF competencies and MCC markers. Supervision opens the wider view: what you bring into the room, what gets stirred in you by a particular client, and the patterns that quietly pull you back to PCC habits. Working on both levels together gives you more than a pass or fail assessment. It brings deeper reflection on who you are as a coach, and it is often this inner shift that makes the MCC difference audible in your recordings.

Who this is for

  • PCC-credentialed coaches preparing an MCC application
  • Coaches whose MCC recording did not pass and who want a clear, honest read on why
  • Senior coaches who want to coach at mastery level, whether or not they apply this year

How the engagement works

  • 10 hours of mentor coaching, the amount ICF requires for the MCC application, spread over at least three months
  • One-to-one 60-minute sessions on Zoom, booked one at a time at a pace that suits your practice
  • A first session to get to know you and to assess where your coaching sits today against the MCC markers
  • Your own recorded sessions at the centre of the work: you send recordings, Daniela listens closely and gives specific, competency-by-competency feedback
  • Supervision space within the sessions to reflect on your own reactions, assumptions and patterns, so the learning goes beyond technique
  • Preparation for the performance evaluation: choosing the right recordings, preparing transcripts, and understanding what assessors listen for at this level

What changes for you

  • You hear the difference between PCC-level and MCC-level coaching in your own recordings
  • You learn to stay with the client’s language, pace and meaning, and to let go of steering
  • You gain a reflective practice you can keep using long after the credential
  • You leave with a clear view of your strengths and the one or two habits still holding you back
  • You complete the mentor coaching hours required for your MCC application

What coaches say

“Thanks to Daniela’s skilled mentor coaching, my coaching upleveled in transformational ways. … She was authentic, gave me direct feedback (which I appreciated tremendously), and knew when to switch from creating awareness around opportunities for improvement to helping me develop confidence with the new approaches I was just introducing to my coaching practice.”
