Description
A PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN COACHING SUPERVISION
Schema-Based Supervision
ICF Specialization — The Mastery of Coaching Supervision
Aligned with the ICF Coaching Supervision Competencies
Developed & delivered by Daniela Aneva, MCC, ACTC, EMCC ESIA, Chartered MCIPD
The supervision training for experienced coaches who are ready to guide others with depth, ethics, and mastery — moving beyond coaching into the art of holding space for the development of other practitioners. At its core sits a distinctive lens: learning to recognise and work with the hidden schemas that shape every coach, every coaching relationship, and every system they touch.
THE DISTINCTIVE LENS
What Makes This Supervision Schema-Based
Every coach brings an inner architecture into the room — deep, often invisible mental frameworks that quietly govern what they notice, what they avoid, how they respond under pressure, and what they expect from the people in front of them. These patterns are called schemas, and they do not stay private. Through parallel process they migrate into the coaching relationship, into the client’s system, and — if left unseen — into the supervisory field itself.
Most supervision works at the level of technique and reflection. Schema-Based Supervision works one level deeper — at the practitioner’s inner architecture — while remaining fully grounded in the ICF Coaching Supervision Competencies. Drawing on the schema framework behind Daniela’s book Schemas in Leadership, and integrating it with the established traditions of supervision — the normative, formative and restorative functions, systemic field thinking, and relational practice — you learn to hold space that is at once safe, rigorous, and genuinely transformative.
Across the programme you will learn to:
- Recognise the schemas operating in the coaches you supervise — and the ways those patterns shape their work.
- Track schema contagion — how individual patterns spread through coaching relationships, teams, and wider systems.
- Work with parallel process and the supervisor’s own schemas with ethical maturity and self-awareness.
- Move a supervisee from insight to revision — naming a pattern, honouring its origin, choosing differently, and rehearsing the change.

Across four integrated learning streams, you will build the capabilities of a confident, ethically grounded supervisor who can work with the inner architecture of the coaches in their care:
- The Reflective & Ethical Foundation — supervisor identity, the ICF Coaching Supervision Competencies, ethics, and contracting.
- The Schema-Aware Supervisor — schema theory in practice, parallel process, contagion, and working with your own patterns.
- Systemic & Relational Practice — holding the wider field: relationships, teams, organisations, and the systems supervisees serve.
- Professional Integration & Launch — group supervision, your supervision model, and building a premium, accredited practice.
| “Supervision is not something you do to coaches — it is something you hold with them.”
This programme teaches you to hold that space with skill, depth, and unwavering ethical grounding — and to see the schemas at work within it. |
